Why Cancun photographers shouldn’t be booked through your resort
Yup! Another post on photography, but this time, I cover the topic of Cancun photographers. To book or not to book?! I know so many people that book a photographer through their resort, and sometimes using their resort credits. There is nothing wrong with this at all, but always remember; what you pay for is what you get! These resorts pay the photographer a measly percent of what you pay. The outcome? A photographer that is doing it for steady bookings by tourists. I did tons of research prior to booking a photographer. I also like to try to book photographers with different styles to have a range of photos.
I came across Oscar Zarate, a local photographer in Cancun. His style is so different, so I had to give it a try. He took pictures slightly before sunset. He is absolutely amazing! He loved that I was willing to get into the water to get the right shot. (Yes, this is aimed at you Prince. LOL) When the photoshoot was over, he showed me some pictures straight from his camera. I was in total awe. I would say Oscar’s strength is his use of lighting. I distinctly remember his use of flash lighting, continuously positioning them to find the perfect light for the shot. The result? Shots that literally looked like they were pulled from pages in a magazine. The creamy bokeh of the ocean in the background. People have told me they thought this backdrop was fake after seeing the pictures! I absolutely L O V E the outcome of the pictures. I found his rate to be extremely reasonable for the quality he provided, and I recommend him to anyone making a trip to the area. I have included some of the beautiful shots he captured below!
